Jo Maconnachie
Teenage and Young Adolescent Cancer Lead Nurse
My name is Jo and I’m the Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse for the West Midlands. I am responsible for ensuring all teenage and young adult patients in the region have access to the best possible, age-appropriate care. This involves educational opportunities for staff working with TYA patients, being a patient advocate, sharing expertise, developing the service and leading the specialist team around the region.
I qualified as a paediatric nurse in 2007 and have worked in paediatric cancer care ever since. During my time as Ward Sister of the paediatric and TYA oncology ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary, I completed a six-month secondment as the TYA Lead Nurse for the East Midlands, where I developed a true passion for TYA patients and service development.
I am currently undertaking my Masters in Clinical Health Research at the University of Birmingham.
