Lead Speech & Language Therapist – Neonatal

I joined the neonatal network in 2010 as a lead speech and language therapist (SLT). Alongside my neonatal network role, I have worked clinically as an SLT across different neonatal units in the West Midlands. I currently work clinically as part of the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) team at Birmingham Women’s Neonatal Unit.

I enjoy working as part of the neonatal network team with the overarching aim being to develop equity, best practices, and improve services and pathways together with our parents and neonatal teams, with the hope this will support better outcomes and experiences for our babies and families we care for in neonatal care.

Since working for the neonatal network one of the standout highlights has been the growth of the neonatal workforce including care coordinators, parent engagement leads, quality lead nursing roles, pharmacists, psychological professionals and AHPs. It feels like we can only continue to aim to further improve neonatal care together.

At home, I like to spend time with my family and friends, attempt to try an odd fitness activity, procrastinate about all the things I would like to achieve and see the world when time allows.
