Tasmin Aston
Children and Young Person's Cancer Lead Nurse
I’m Tas and I’m the Lead Nurse for the Children’s and Young Person’s Cancer Network. I joined the network in November 2022 and have worked at Birmingham Childrens Hospital in Oncology for 21 years. My career started as a healthcare assistant and then Family Support Worker on the Oncology ward, progressing through my nurse training to Staff Nurse, Junior Sister, deputy Ward Sister, Ward sister and then Lead Nurse. I have a dual role where I work half of my time within the network and half at Birmingham Children’s Hospital within Oncology in a nursing leadership role. I’m passionate about improving patient care, experience, and outcomes in ensuring patients and families have equitable access to care across the network. My other passion is advocating for nurses and supporting their professional development and wellbeing through my role as a Professional Nurse advocate. I'm excited to be part of this network and working alongside such a fantastic team to ensure children, young people and families receive the best possible care.
