About Us
The West Midlands Children’s Cancer Network consists of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital as the Principal Treatment Centre and six Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Centres. All children and young people diagnosed with Cancer aged 0-16 years in the West Midlands will initially be treated at the Principal Treatment Centre for diagnosis, then depending on where they live and the level of care required, may continue to receive some treatment at their local Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Centre, under the guidance of the Principal Treatment Centre.
The Network consists of many different health professionals who are specialists in paediatric cancer care and will provide specialist care to children and young people in line with national guidance, best practice guidance and disease-specific treatment protocols.
The West Midlands Children’s Cancer Network provides a structure for bringing these teams together to provide the best care available, to improve the experience of families and patients and to act as a voice for these specialist services with NHS organisations both locally and nationally.
