About Us
Ensuring that all women and birthing people in the network’s footprint with significant medical problems receive timely specialist care and advice before, during, and after pregnancy.
The West Midlands Maternal Medicine Network facilitate care in a multi-disciplinary setting ensuring both investigation and management is carried out by healthcare professionals with specialist expertise whilst taking into account the woman or birthing person’s preferences.
Birmingham Women’s Hospital is proud to be the host Trust to the West Midlands Maternal Medicine Network.
The Network is designed to support clinicians across the region with the care of medically complex pregnant people with pre-existing diseases/those who develop conditions through their pregnancy and, where able, facilitate safe and effective care for pregnant people close to their homes. Anyone can refer a pregnant person for discussion as it is not dependent on role or grade. Whether there is just a question you would like an opinion on, or feel you need an MDT meeting to establish an individualised plan of care or potential transfer onto hub care, then the Network can help, using expertise from across the region.
