About Us

About Us

The WMNODN work alongside families and health professionals ensuring the best care for babies in our units.

We aim to ensure equity in access and standards of care for all. We also endeavour to provide consistent improvement of the quality of care thus improving outcomes for our babies wherever they may be.

The ODN can share its expertise but also learn from families, infants, and staff to make sure each neonatal journey is treated with the dedication, care, and compassion it so truly deserves. Our babies, their loved ones, and all involved in the care are at the heart of all we do, and it is our duty to ensure they are always our priority.

How will we make this happen?

  • Ensuring babies and families have access to standardised and high-quality care non-dependant on the unit in which the care is received.
  • Providing consistency and equity as close to home as possible.
  • Supporting staff and families with delivering and receiving education/awareness on neonatal topics.
  • Showing and sharing compassion with every person involved in the neonatal journey.
  • Collaborating and engaging with all staff and families during decision-making and quality improvement for a well-rounded approach.
  • Assisting with and monitoring patient flow and capacity through the units within the network to ensure efficiency and comfort.
  • Developing guidance and maintaining pathways within the ODN for clarity and consistency.
  • Ensuring the education and provision of staff on the units is at an adequate level for the best care,
  • Developing and working towards workplan goals.

The Neonatal ODN, in summary, wishes to make changes and improvements to the lives of all babies and parents in our care plus all the colleagues involved along the way, improving care together from all angles.
